Welcome to First Methodist Church! We are so glad you are here. Whatever your week has been like, whatever your life has been like, whatever you look like, and whether you believe what we believe or disagree with us, you are welcome in this place in the name of Jesus Christ.
Prayer requests can be texted to us at (806) 304-6649, or emailed to prayer@firstmethodist.church.
The blanket at the altar is presented in honor of the birth of Jenna Ruth Goehring, daughter of Caleb and Holly Goehring. Jenna was born August 24.
If this is your first time here, we have a gift for you! Visit the welcome table by the entrance, and a member of our Guest Connections Team will happily assist you.
Our nursery is available for infants to pre-k students. We believe in family worship, so your kids are welcome to stay in the worship service with you. We have a time for children during worship where kids are invited to come forward to hear from our children’s ministry team. If your children are joining you in worship, we offer “wiggle bags” filled with activities for your children to do during worship. Wiggle bags may be found at the back of the worship space by the entrance.
This morning outside the sanctuary and Fellowship Hall, the Methodist Women in Service are selling meals ready to be taken home and heated in an oven or slow cooker. Proceeds benefit local, national, and international mission work. Cash and checks accepted.
Unsure of how to go about sharing your faith, discipling, or telling someone about Jesus? Join Lane Miller for a training experience on having life-changing conversations, how to help lead someone toward salvation through Christ, and equipping and empowering disciples to make more disciples. There is no cost to attend, and childcare is available. If you can't make this meeting, a second session will be held at the Amarillo campus on Sunday, September 20, from noon to 2:00 p.m.
Coffee Memorial Blood Center will be in its Bloodmobile Saturday, September 19, to take much-needed blood donations. To reserve a time slot to give, please schedule your appointment online.
Each year, we present our third-grade students with Bibles to help develop in them a love for, and understanding of, God's Word. Make plans to join us next Sunday for this special tradition!
The Leadership Board is a nine-person team whose purpose is to govern the business of the church. If you feel led to serve on this team, applications are available at the welcome areas. Applications will close Sunday, October 4.
Grab your boots and cowboy hats — our annual Street Party is coming up! GrowGroups will be serving their favorite snacks, and guests may donate money to vote for the best food and best-decorated booth while enjoying live music from Nelson McKinney. Proceeds will go toward our Canyon Intermediate School fund, which we use to bless the CIS staff throughout the school year. To sign up for a booth, please fill out the form in your Sunday school bag, or see Laurie Gilliland.
If you know of someone in our congregation who served in the Armed Forces, we want to recognize them during worship on Sunday, November 8. Please email laurie@firstmethodist.church with their name.
