Salvation

by grace through faith

What is salvation? Can I be assured of salvation? What does it mean to be saved?

Salvation = Found

It's to know that after feeling lost and alone, we've been found by God. It's to know that after feeling worthless, we've been redeemed. It's to experience a reunion with God, others, the natural world, and our own best selves. In salvation we become whole. Salvation happens to us both now and for the future. It's "eternal life," that new quality of life in unity with God of which the Gospel of John speak—a life that begins not at death, but in the present.

Following Christ

Discipleship

The church calls our response to God "Christian discipleship." Discipleship focuses on actively following in the footsteps of Jesus. As Christian disciples, we are not passive spectators but energetic participants in God’s activity in the world. Because of what God has done for us, we offer our lives back to God. We order our lives in ways that embody Christ’s ministry in our families, workplaces, communities, and the world.

Membership

Join our family

Becoming a Global Methodist begins with a desire to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ as part of a local congregation. For Global Methodists, being baptized and committing to active participation in a church community are the first steps to becoming a member.

Baptism marks the beginning of our lifelong journey as disciples of Jesus Christ. Those who have never been baptized will receive the sacrament of baptism before becoming members. Those previously baptized will reaffirm the Baptismal Covenant as part of their membership vows. In those vows, we promise to faithfully live out the call to serve Christ through our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.

Want to learn more about First Methodist? Our Canyon campus offers a First Steps gathering each Sunday at 9:40 a.m. in the library, just across from the sanctuary. Nursery, children's, and youth ministries are available during this time. No RSVP is required — just show up!

Our Amarillo campus will periodically offer membership classes through out the year. If you have any questions, please email campus pastor, Charlie Keys.

GrowGroups

get involved

GrowGroups are what we call all of our “small group” ministries here at First Methodist. Our goal is to have everyone involved in some type of group. We don’t expect you to be in more than one group a week, but we do expect you to be in a group.

Serving

serve your neighbor

We are called to “go serve our neighbor, community, and world.”

We desire each individual and all of our GrowGroups to be involved in serving the church and the world.

Opportunities to serve (inside and outside the four walls of the church) are plentiful. We have several ways for you to serve inside our church as well as outside of our church, in our city and in our surrounding community.
